3막 1장 · 14행Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more,
Or close the wall up with our English dead!
In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility,
But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,
Disguise fair nature with hard-favored rage,
Then lend the eye a terrible aspect,
Let it pry through the portage of the head
Like the brass cannon, let the brow o’erwhelm it
As fearfully as doth a gallèd rock
O’erhang and jutty his confounded base
Swilled with the wild and wasteful ocean.

다시 한 번 저 성벽의 틈으로, 벗들이여, 다시 한 번. 그러지 못한다면 우리 잉글랜드인의 시신으로 그 틈을 메우자! 평화로울 때 사람에게 가장 어울리는 것은 조용한 겸양과 겸손함이다. 그러나 전쟁의 돌풍이 우리 귀에 몰아칠 때에는 호랑이의 몸짓을 본받으라. 힘줄을 굳히고 피를 끓어오르게 하라. 고운 천성을 험상궂은 분노로 감추라. 그리고 눈에 무서운 기색을 실어, 놋쇠 대포처럼 투구의 틈으로 노려보게 하라. 눈썹이 그 위를 덮어 누르게 하라. 거센 파도에 씻긴 무너진 밑동 위로 깎인 바위가 무섭게 걸려 튀어나온 것처럼.
